The story of Thunder Lizard IPA from BlackStack Brewing starts with a hoodie.
The Science Museum of Minnesota recently made a lot of money — about half a million dollars — selling the hoodie after it appeared in the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.”
The museum was looking for a special way to thank all the folks who supported it by buying the hoodie, a retro-looking purple sweatshirt featuring the skeleton of a brontosaurus with the moniker “Thunder Lizard” and the Science Museum’s name written below it.
The museum also wanted to partner with a local brewery to make a museum-specific beer. As it happens, BlackStack and the museum had hosted some events together, and so the partnership for this beer, which will be available on a very limited basis, came to be.
Crowlers (750 milliliter cans) of Thunder Lizard IPA will be available for the first 150 customers when the brewery opens at 5 p.m., and the beer will flow all night.
If you can’t make the event, don’t worry. The brewery and the museum are hoping to partner for further projects, whether for another run of Thunder Lizard or another museum-specific beer.
